Fall on a farm, and a whole afternoon to spend in it.
Our Mpact girls (Daisies through Girls Only) and Discovery Rangers boys are heading to Porter’s Patch outside Bonduel on Sunday, October 4th.
There’s More Out There Than One Afternoon Can Hold
The big one is the Pumpkin Head Corn Maze Challenge — get through the corn and find all the pumpkin heads hiding in it. Then there’s the Barn Hill Slide, an obstacle course, gunny sack races, tug-o-war, a log walk, disc golf, round bale hay play, a western village, machinery row, and a campfire pit to warm up at when hands get cold.
Every kid builds a scarecrow to take home and paints a pumpkin at the craft shed. Down in the petting zoo there are goats, chickens, and piggies waiting to be met.
And then there’s pumpkin everything — pumpkin bowling, pumpkin putt, pumpkin checkers, pumpkin tic tac toe, pumpkin twister, pumpkin toss, and a pumpkin kick. You can see the whole list at porterspatch.com.
Getting There & Back
Lunch will be provided at the church, and we’ll leave by 12:30 p.m., arriving at the patch around 1:00. We’ll be back at the church around 4:30 p.m.
What to Know
- Cost: $13, which covers entry to the corn maze, a make-and-take scarecrow, a pumpkin to paint, the petting zoo, and everything else on the grounds.
- Younger children may need a parent to come along.
- Dress for the weather — most of the day is outside, and October in Wisconsin can go either way.
- Extras: Pumpkins and food are available to purchase on site beyond the entry fee.
- Permission slip required. Slips went home with the kids — contact the church office if you need another.
- Rain date: Sunday, October 11th.
